People call prostitution the world's oldest profession, and while there's definitely some truth to that, I would have to assume that scam artist is a title equally as old.
I can imagine some of our oldest ancestors scamming each other out of tools, resources, and eventually currency... right up to snake oil salesmen, and today's internet scam artists.
If you have a pulse and an email address, you've gotten some email from a "Nigerian Prince" telling you a grand story of millions of dollars that he needs your help moving. In return for your assistance, you get a cut of the money. All you need to do is send them a small amount, and you'll get a huge return on your investment.
Of course, we all know that it's bullshit. Well, most of us anyways. Clearly, there are still people somewhere in the world that aren't aware of the scam and continue to fall for it. Otherwise they wouldn't exist anymore.
Have you ever been tempted to reply to one of those scam emails just to see what they would say? Well, James Veitch did just that.
This is his story. *queue the Law & Order music*
